Everyone knows about Ebola and people are in one of two camps.
The first camp is what I like to call Camp Denial. They're all "Ebola is no big deal." "I'm just gonna carry a clipboard around this Ebola infected person because eff you, Ebola." "People should be more scared of the flu than Ebola." etc. These people like articles like this: 9 Reasons You Need To Calm The F*ck Down About Ebola in America.
Then there is Camp Irrational Freakout. I belong to this camp. These people are all, "Ebola is gonna kill us all!" They are googling "Where to Buy Hazmat Suits in Bulk" and thinking "Why don't we shoot the guy with the clipboard and then burn the body in order to contain the problem." That is irrational and inhumane and overall a terrible idea. It's also a good example of why I'm not in charge. I don't think people with Ebola should be killed...maybe only the ones like #clipboardman who just nonchalantly hang around an EBOLA PATIENT all unprotected. Or how about the dumbass NURSE who FLEW while she had a fever OR the CDC for saying "yeah sure go ahead and get on a plane so they can recycle your funky germs to all the other people on the plane." You're a nurse. You have to have some level of common sense, right? Do you need to make that call? Stay your ass in a closet! Anyway, e have a love/hate relationship with articles like this: Ebola, A Nurse's Perspective It's informative but unfortunately scary.
My friend posted this to my Facebook page when she found out that I'm all in freakout mode.
Sadly, although I know it's a joke it made me feel better.....for a minute, until I thought about it.....what if I did and I don't know it?! People sneeze all the time! I don't know who has been where! Camryn goes to a little school...what if one of the parents was on that Frontier flight and then they went home and sneezed and kissed their kid good night and then their little carrier monkey child went to school and sneezed and licked a book and then Camryn licked the book and there ya go, people! That is how Ebola is spread. Licked children's books.
You may think I sound crazy and irrational but I think Camp Denial is who is crazy! "Oh the flu is a bigger problem!" Is it? Is. It. Does the flu do THIS?
No, no it does not. The common cold and a virus do not do that. But that is just Hollywood's take on it, right?
So, here ya go -
Sorry to get so "real" on ya but Ebola is a problem and comparing it to a fucking common cold is asinine.
Speaking of asinine I've read the comments on some of these news articles. People saying that Ebola is "population control" is absurd and that the media is blowing this out of proportion and that it's so funny watching people freak out about it....
Can you blow THIS out of proportion? Can you?
I'm not trying to spread fear or pull you all to the side of Camp Irrational Freakout I just want to point out that shit is real and Ebola is maybe just a smidge worse than a cold. So, what am I going to do to calm myself? I'm gonna sit back in my hazmat suit and read 9 Reasons You Need To Calm The F*ck Down About Ebola in America with a glass of wine.
